Silchar and the Barak Valley

Our base. Green paddy fields, the Barak River and easy day trips around Cachar district. We pick up from hotels, homes, Silchar railway station and Silchar Airport.

Haflong

Assam's only hill station, in Dima Hasao district, known for Haflong Lake, cool weather and misty ridges. Nearby Jatinga is famous for its bird phenomenon in autumn.

Kamakhya Temple, Guwahati

One of India's most important Shakti Peethas, on Nilachal Hill in Guwahati. A common stop on trips between Silchar, Shillong and Guwahati.

Kaziranga National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to most of the world's one-horned rhinoceroses. Safaris usually run from around November to April.

Assam tea gardens

Rolling estates of tea bushes shaded by tall trees. Many gardens are visible right from the highway, and the Barak Valley has its own tea estates too.

Travel tips

October to April is the most comfortable season for sightseeing in Assam.
Kaziranga safari timings and zones change each season, so book safaris in advance.
Carry light rain gear from May to September, when heavy monsoon rain is common.
